I was actually really enjoying this book until the final part. I was expecting a lot more from the final confrontation with Christine. Instead, I had to sit through 200 pages of a forced, no-chemistry romance between Dennis and Leigh. I hated Dennis throughout most of the book, so his presence at the end really ruined it for me. Not a horrible book, but I feel like the characters definitely could have been handled better.

Also, R.I.P. Arnie. You deserved better.

It is crazy how King can write characters that I absolutely hate and how much I can look forward to their deaths, just to have them described in such a way that I still feel sorry for them because the fight isn't fair.

This was my first read of Christine and it became a favourite pretty easily.

It's a crazy story, but I enjoyed it from beginning to end without any lulls.

(lydbog)

About 250 pages worth of story in a 650 page book. Remarkably though, it still ended too quickly. He is such an engrossing author, I would have enjoyed it at 1,000.

Most excellent re-read. The idea of a car like Christine with all of her supernatural power sounds like a bit of a loony idea on the surface but King really makes the story work with excellent characters that have a lot of depth, especially the leads which are high school students. As I've been re-reading classic SK stories these past few years I find my thinking that so many of his best characters are younger than 25 because he understands that younger people haven't lost the possibility of believing in what should be impossible. As such, since most of his novels deal with what should be impossible, his younger characters are best able to deal with supernatural situations. King has never forgotten what it was to be young and open to the impossible, whether you want to be or not, once it finds you, so even though his stories are mostly horror tales, what he is really dealing in is magic and this magic is very satisfying to this reader (and many others judging by his sales).

Stephen King always comes up with an interesting idea but his writing isn't my cup of tea, the plot takes too long to develop and the ending isn't as interesting as I would like it be~generally speaking about his books.
But I liked this one! And if I had to say why I'd say this: 90% of my liking is because I have missed reading, 5% because I liked the translation and the other 5% because of the plot. The ending was decent and that's a first for me in a Stephen King novel.
