This crazy story just keeps getting crazier.

This one was interesting, but a little disorientating. I couldn't decide if it was supposed to feel like a complete deviation from the rest of the series or not, until the very end, when it all came together.

However, because of that, there really was a disconnect. We've never even had a hint of Teddy before and he was a little whack-a-doodle even without the schizophrenia, thinking so much of himself, lying to himself and the world, as well as being generally an alcoholic teenager with some serious issues.

I'm also left with even more questions. Why is this the first time that the caretakers have taken any interest in the teenagers previous lives and tried to make them re-enact them? Are there two sets of caretakers - the crazy, murdering psychopaths and the caretakers trying to understanding humans and bring back the good-ole-days? I don't know. But, now that we're filling murdered, lost characters with new ones, I'm intrigued to see where it's going to lead.

Um, can I be honest and say I am totally confused!
Thanks to NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for my thoughts, but I feel it would have been better to issue the entire series in one.
This is the sixth in the series, and from what I can gather the previous five books focus on different characters and have little to do with what we're shown here.
Teddy is a reality TV star. He's used to his life being controlled but has a deep fear that he will succumb to schizophrenia, like his father and grandfather before him.
After a party Teddy wakes up with a girl, who is not remotely interested in him. This is very different to his 'normal' life. His home seems to be a recreation of his real home.
We're told little about what's behind this, but Inez and Teddy are watched by robotic cameras as they recreate scenes from Teddy's show.
This was a quick read that has left me baffled, and realising I should try and read the rest of the series to establish what on earth is going on!

For me this wasn't the best story yet, but it was still entertaining and it was nice to meet some new characters. Inez is great and Teddy isn't so bad in his own way. The ending, of course, left you wanting the next episode ASAP. I would recommend this story. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

The confusion continues in the sixth episode, where we leave the characters be and focus on the introduction of two new characters, one of which believes he's gone mad and everything is just a figment of his imagination. It is at times like this that it becomes really clear that these series is written by so many different authors.

While it was nice to have a lighter part in the story, it didn't feel to me like it belonged there. It was nice to read, but if I would read it as if it were one book, I would have been surprised at the sudden change of tone.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

At some point, this is all going to make sense and I'm going to comb my way through the previous episodes looking for breadcrumbs. Until then, I spend each week gasping and grasping at the little tidbits the team of authors leaves for us.

You know, Serial Box said this week's episode was a game changer, and they weren't kidding. Threw us all off course. Teddy and Inez not only wake up on the island (in a modified reality TV set; oh, did I mention Teddy is a reality TV star?) but with a whole different set of robot "caretakers" (which have been killer in all other instances). I have a feeling the writers are messing with our heads, and we all know how awful I am at predicting things so it's anyone's guess what the heck is going on. Robots! Remade TV sets - and teens! Killer bunnies! Space elevators? WHAT!
