This is more a 4.5 stars as there were a few niggles for me... I was conflicted because in one moment I'd think that an appearance or occurrence is too neat, yet on the flip-side I also feel happy or sad about it too. Can't say why because they would be massive spoilers.

The full learning curve about the history, behaviour, progression and culture of Muties is described so well. Deuce's personal development may be a bit far-fetched for a 16-17 year old but I was happy to suspend my disbelief because she is a product of her huntress upbringing and subsequent experiences that never give her a time of peace. In Horde the characters are essentially in a brutal war and the bodies keep piling up.

Overall, savage, brutal and at times touching conclusion to this post-apocalyptic series. Very highly recommended.

This was such an amazing ending to a series! Horde wrapped up everything just perfectly though I could’ve done without the epilogue. I very rarely come to love two characters as much as I loved Deuce and Fade anymore. But they really are amazing! They’re brave and courageous and just completely bad ass! When I first picked up this series I was a little on the fence because of the whole zombie thing… and I love zombies but it’s been done a lot. I could tell she pulled some of her information from things like the Walking Dead but that didn’t bother me at all. It’s still incredibly original.

This series is gory and gruesome and gross and full of action and adventure so if you like that kind of thing, it’s definitely for you. Even though it is an adventure book there is some romance mingled in there that you pretty much crave the whole time because how couldn’t you with people like Deuce and Fade?!

But yes, I loved it! If you like Dystopian Young Adult books, this is a must!

So, in my quest to review the books I had previously read, I stumbled upon Razorland. I have already noticed that my reading tastes, what I will read and won't, have changed since a decade ago. That's okay, it's called growing up. It had to happen sooner or later.

I decided not to continue with my reread of Razorland, of which I still had books 2 and 3 left in the reread. I had yet to read book 4.

The reason why I did not is simple:

1) I noticed my rating was dropping the further I got into Razorland. I have to decide whether I want to make the effort of rereading books that I have given 3 stars to in the distant past, and that I was doubting would even get 3 stars right now.

2)
SpoilerI will not read about a young girl being given a love interest that had the intention of r*ping her 5 minutes before. I just won't.

So, that's pretty much it.

Happy Reading, I guess.

Epic ending to an epic trilogy. Horde has it all; the brutality of war and the tenderness of family attachment and love. The fierceness of survival and steadfast courage. The finality of death and the birth of hope for a renewed, peaceful future.

Deuce has come such a long way and Horde was a most vivid conclusion to her action packed and emotionally satisfying story.

3 stars because I just couldn't like this book as much as I liked the first 2 books.

Good:
-The mutants and their growth. We already find out a bit about them in the first and second book, but in this book it is even more clear. The mutants are changing, and luckily for the humans it seems they are changing for the better.
-Fade + Deuce romance! I love me some good romance, and I was so happy to see various things happening in this book. Things that also caused me to laugh aloud. I won't spoil much, but I am sure others will have a small laugh about it too.
They still make a wonderful couple, and Deuce is very patient with Fade and his problems. She just kept waiting, enjoying the small moments they had together. Waiting for her loved one to heal and to enjoy the touches again.
-The worldbuilding and the gorgeous details of the many towns we visit. I especially loved Rosemere, it sounds like a town out of a fairytale.
-The ending was a bit anti-climatic, though I did like it. I liked to have a conclusion to such a gruesome war.
-The Cover. So happy that it is matching the rest. The many times I have series that have different covers, because someone thought it would be fun to just change them after 1 or 2 books.

The bad:
-I was absolutely not expecting the death of a certain character. Why!!!!
-The war, war and war. I know it was said and hinted towards in the second book, but I think we could have easily skipped 100 pages of just nothing (sorry, I am not a war girl, nor do I like politics and all that). Instead it just dragged and droned on and on and on. At times I was just ready to drop the book, put it away and just forget this book existed. So yeah, the war and all that surrounds it is what made me drop at least 1.5 star off this book.
-The mad scientist. I just knew something was bound to happen, and sadly it happened.
-The idiocy of people. Seriously, you would think people would have learned from ancient history, but it seems they didn't. Making the same stupid decisions, doing the same things that caused all this mess in the first place.

All in all, still a balanced book, but again, it could do without all the war stuff.
