This book takes place in Denmark and is about a missing fifteen-year-old boy who is first assumed to be a runaway. However, a cryptic note in his room leads detectives Jeppe Korner and Anette Werner to think Oscar may be the victim of a kidnapping, which means time could be running out for him.

I liked both detectives and the way work together. The plot is complex and even a bit confusing at time, but I really enjoyed the book and have already ordered the next one in the series.

This book had more of a slow start but had lots of different twists and surprised throughout that pulls the reader in to find out what happened. The book is written from the pov of the two main detectives but includes a variety of different characters throughout.

My second Nordic Noir book, I'm getting used to the dry, no nonsense, dark and atmospheric genre. I appreciated the multiple layers of conspiracy and fraud enmeshed with family drama in The Harbor.

There were a few too many convenient coincidences that helped the police investigation out without really being clever solutions, and the dialogue was sometimes cringey. I never really understood how the family bed played into the story other than being creepy. Overall it was a little over the top in some places, but followed the formula well. I'm always up for a seemingly isolated crime that uncovers a much bigger picture or connects several other threads that go all the way to the top, and I wasn't disappointed.
