Sadly I didn't love this second book as much as the first, the pacing was way to fast for me, and while I'm not sure that it could have been done another way, the constant time skips left me a bit unmoored. Notably, one chapter ended with a character announcing that they needed to talk with another, and that discussion never happened on the page, and for me that didn't totally work. I still liked it though, and I am very interested to see how the characters evolve in that last book.

The second book in the series does not disapoint. Characters are still incredible and their development is so well done it feels like you know them. The book is quite slow in the beginning but very enjoyable. And when things went down I was at the edge of my seat. Looking forward to the last part of this saga.

first half of the book was business and politics focused so i was kinda like "meh" but the second half of the book oooo. every page felt like another plot twist i'm not going to lie. i didn't expect the ending where andy takes back his promise of not wearing jade just to put it on again as a healer. i can't wait to see how hilo will integrate andy back into no peak. alsoooooo ayt mada is one bad bitch like YESSSSS my scary, terror-inducing queen, go get those traitors in the mountain! i can't wait to see what happens in the next book
