This book was different from the others in the series for several reasons. First, it was a repeat of a couple we already met, Cage and Eva. But turns out, there was more to their story. I thought I wouldn't like the continuation, but I was sucked in from the prologue. Second, the prologue showed us what was going to happen, and then let us wait for it to occur. The anticipation kept me on edge. Because it doesn't happen. And then you can see what is going to happen. And then it finally does happen, and I just wanted the air to be cleared. Took long enough!

I didn't know this was going to be another Eva x Cage book when I got to it and I was a little disappointed that it was, not that I didn't like their story but because they weren't my favorites and there are a lot of characters in the series that I want to read about.
It ended being an ok book. I liked some things, others not that much. I was really angry when that roommate sent those videos to Eva because I was expecting that and it was something that we have probably read about in a million other books so it wasn't very surprising. I still don't like Jeremy that much but I wan't him to find someone special. I liked the fact that Cage ended up fighting for the woman he loved and his baby, I love the name Bliss and I heard some rumors (spoiler) about a Bliss and Nate (Blair and Rush's son). Can't wait to read about that.
I liked that Cage decided not to go back to Tennessee because he just couldn't leave Eva but I didn't like the fact that he was giving up his dream. I know that it wasn't much trouble for him because of everything that happened, that roommate, those girls, I mean really since when do college girls go to parties and just hang around without a shirt or a bra? That was overdoing it a bit I guess.
But well the proposal was nice and I liked that Jeremy gave her away at the wedding. And oh Low and Marcus had a kid! Eli seems like a really cute name. I really like them together as well. Marcus x Low and Amanda x Preston are without a doubt my favorites. Now I hope to have more favorites in the future.

Sometimes it Lasts is a continuation of Cage and Eva's story which began in While it Lasts. It's not essential to read the other book before this one but I think it would help. Going into this book blindly meant that I didn't know about previous relationships or certain elements in characters pasts which might have made events in this book a little more powerful.

I liked Cage and Eva's relationship in Sometimes it Lasts. They have been though a lot already and things are starting to look up. Cage gets a scholarship to college to play baseball. The only downside is that it's in Tennessee and leaving Eva behind just isn't an option. Eva is on board with the move - that is until she gets the news that her father is sick. Not wanting Cage to give up all he's worked so hard for, Eva manages to get him to still go to Tennessee on the condition that she will join him as soon as she can. Long distance relationships are hard and Eva and Cage have to face problems unlike any they've dealt with before. Is their love strong enough to survive?

One of the things I love most about Abbi Glines novels but something which drives me a little crazy is how passionate and impulsive her characters are. It's amazing how deeply and intensely they love. Cage and Eva are devoted to each other and want nothing more than the other to be happy. But as quick as they are to love - they are also quick to believe the worst. They could never be accused of being all that rational when it comes to the other.

But it works in this book. Eva and Cage both have to come to terms with their situation and find a way to make everything work or having to face a future without the other one in it. I can see why Cage has a legion of fangirls. He's fairly irresistible especially in the latter part of this book. I did find him to be a little two-dimensional at times. He is very single-minded in his pursuit of Eva. And not just wanting to be with her but how rude he is to any woman who isn't her or a girlfriend of one of his mates. He may have ended up being justified but I don't like the idea that to be in a relationship meant he couldn't be cordial to other women.

Sometimes it Lasts is everything I've come to expect from an Abbi Glines novel. It's got characters who belong together but need to fight to get their happy ending, some very hot and sexual scenes as well as a cast of supporting characters who bring out the best (and worst) in the leads. This was an entertaining and sweet book and now I'm dying to read While it Lasts to see how it all began for Cage and Eva!

I will preface this review with saying that Cage and Eva were never my favorite characters, especially of this series. Thus, this book was going to have to work extra hard to get a great rating from me.
Overall, I just found that these characters really hadn't grown up at all since we last saw them. I still found Eva to have the annoying emotional maturity of a 15 year old. At the beginning of the story, she is happily in love with Cage and acting on top of the world, in a semblance of maturity. But she comes too close to being overly dependent on Cage or even her father. She could still be in high school based on how she acts.
It's not totally surprising, because all the couples in this series seem to be granted a few common traits by Abbi Glines. They all act like the girls are breakable dolls made of gold, and thus need tending to as such. I'm all for the boyfriends more or less worshipping their girlfriends, I read romance novels, so of course I'm not some feminist. But, these books take it a little too far. Abbi Glines spends so much time making sure the boys attend to their women, but the women just sit there and smile over it all. You never really get to see what they do to keep their boys. The way it's written, you would think they don't have to do anything. I believe Abbi Glines was trying to make it so that these boys are just happy to be with them because they are who they are, but then you see all the boys changing their personalities to be with these girls. I think it's really unrealistic that it isn't hardly shown how relationships take a lot of work on both sides. There has to be compromise and devotion from each person. To me, these books depict more compromise and devotion on the boys' side and seemingly just a lot of tolerance from the girls.
