Fun read. A little young for me perhaps, but a great middle grade series I'm quite looking forward to reading after this first book. It's got a bit of everything. Some magical realism, some badass princessws or princess adjacent, some action, some (implied) (queer) romance (which I'm pretty sure will become both less implied and more queer).
