“My dear aunt’s endeavours to ‘nurse up my strength’ seemed altogether beside the mark. It was not my strength that wanted nursing, it was my imagination that wanted soothing.”

The synopsis of this edition reports that this novella is “a critical exploration of the spine-chilling truths and hypocrisy of the European colonialism”. Maybe it’s because I’m dumb(?), but it took a lot of side-reading on the Internet to understand exactly how. Still, I give it 4 stars because even without those unmet expectations the storytelling quality of Conrad’s writing was gripping.

i had to read this for class . kill me now

I just didn't understand this at all and it was such a drag. I want to thank the youtube audiobook for helping me get through this and also sparks notes for helping me Get It (kinda). I get that this is an important book and all but GOD it was boring
