This is a cute book, but it's really better for the illustrations than the story (or lack there of). My three year old didn't quite get it, so maybe it's best for an older audience that understands the struggles of being a T-Rex!

Dollycas’s Thoughts
When I saw this book I thought it would be a fun book to read with my grandson who is learning to read but the font of the text was hard for him to do on his own. He did think the illustrations were pretty funny. After we had finished our read I left the book in the bathroom to see what adults would pick it up. It just seemed like that kind of book. during the next few days I heard a variety of comments:
“Where did you get that dinosaur book?”
“That T-Rex book was funny.”
“Interesting book, but it went on for too long.”
“Liked the drawings but it got kinda boring.”
“Good for several visits got repetitive for me.”
“That book is really funny, that poor dinosaur.”
The bathroom readers were age 11 – 62, male and female. The men seemed to like it better than the women.
The illustrations are cute pencil-like drawings and the verse is very basic. There is a nice message in that the T-Rex doesn’t give up, doing his best with that great big body and tiny little arms.
This is the third book featuring this persistent dinosaur and his family. The previous two released back in 2014. Seeing that the author is a dentist makes me think this is the kind of book you may find at the dentist’s or doctor’s offices to read while you are waiting. They would also make a fun stocking stuffer for the dinosaur lovers on your list.
