Um. Holy shit. This definitely needs a trigger warning for how fucking heavy it gets. It was an interesting read.

What! A! Book! 👏🏼  Knoll’s novel covers a wide variety of triggering topics from sexual assault & rape to eating disorders to school shootings to grief and everything in between.  This book was heavier in nature & subject than I expected, however, she found ways to tie in such strong subjects in a free flowing way.  It wasn’t explicitly thrown in your face yet showed as both the past & present POVs of the main character, TifAni (later going by Ani).

As a native of the hometown she talks about in the book, this novel quite literally hits close to home. The street names, pizza places, local colleges, all of it made the story even more real.

There were moments where TifAni was absolutely insufferable and Knoll made it very hard to root for her at times. She was self-centered & a bit shallow, yet you start to uncover the core reasons how she got here in this present self.  Her journey is rough and by the end, you hope she discovers a road to self recovery & exploration (I also hope she discovered some therapy because she needed it after what she went through wow).  Knoll took us through the journey, one of which she later shared was one of her own, which made it the vulnerability in Ani’s emotions even more raw & real.

In the end, this was a really great book.  While the subject can be extremely triggering, I would recommend to anyone to immediately read!
