This was very enjoyable to listen to as an audiobook on long runs - it felt like listening to a friend chatting to you about the trials and tribulations of their journey. As running / adventure books go, this one felt particularly cosy and easygoing.
It was refreshing to hear the realities of such a huge undertaking from a normal person with very little running experience before setting out to run several thousand miles.

I really enjoyed this book. The more non-fiction I read, the more I realize I am drawn to adventure writing. But no matter how many inspirational books about treks through the desert or travels to the other side of the world I read, they all feel so distant from my life and my capabilities. But this book was truly the first inspirational adventure book I’ve read. It was the first book where even hearing about the bad times, I still thought, “I think I’d really like to try something like that.”
It is a light-hearted book, no doubt, but it was so honest. There was not a lot of purple passages about the freedom of running or zen mindset achieved, but a lot of comment on tearful rest stops, muddy trainers, and chaffing. But that’s real, and what comes across is that, even through all of that the sheer act of committing to something that seems impossible and seeing it through is brave as hell.

The writing style is like talking to a friend. The tone is casual and honest. I would've enjoyed more descriptions of the settings and places. Overall it was an enjoyable read.
Moderate: Toxic relationship and Gaslighting
