This book is kind of like A Touch of Darkness meets From Blood and Ash. This perfect mix of Hades and Casteel with Poppy and Persephone!
I love a good romantasy and this was IT! It’s been awhile since I’ve read one and I was so excited to be back in a world of sex and fantasy

I did not want to die a hero, I wanted to live as a conqueror- Isolde
For fans of From Blood and Ash, this is a dark story about Adrian, a vampire, and Isolde, a princess of a rival kingdom forced to marry him.
There is a lot to love about this book, but I struggled to really connect with the characters. I enjoyed my time in this book, but don't think I will continue on. Isolde was a great FMC, tough and vicious, but I really wanted to want this story more. The twists and turns were super obvious.
Welp, it wasn't bad, I just don't care enough to care further. Good luck to anyone who progresses! I hope it's great!

I'm not sure why I finished this book. The twist was so obvious and introduced so early on that the climax was about as entertaining as the spicy scenes, which felt forced to move the plot along.
The world building in this was very messy and didn't pull me in. The writing is similar to FBAA in that the heroine is constantly asking questions and learning about some ridiculous tradition/monster/historical plot point. Isolde was incredibly unlikeable for me. All she did was flip flop on her feelings for Adrian and stab people.
I've read all of the Hades & Persephone books by this author and enjoyed A Touch of Darkness. But between the most recent books from that series and this, the writing has really taken a turn for the worse.

Spicy, enemies to lovers (rather quickly, lol)

I LOVE Scarlett St. Clair, especially her Hades & Persephone books. This seemed like an earlier writing, when she was still trying to get in a good writing groove. It was good, but some parts felt rushed and/or random.

Ich wurde leider nicht ganz warm mit den Charakteren und die Handlung war an einigen Stellen vorhersehbar. Dennoch eine spannende Geschichte um Vampire und Hexen mit einem Hauch von Mythologie!

I really enjoyed this book, it is a fast paced book that incorporates a wide range of themes and characters.
As characters, Adrian and Isolde, are well developed which easily allows the reader to gain an understanding of their thoughts. Their relationship is well developed and lovely to read, a good enemies to lovers arc.
The plot is fun and kept me reading, I am excited to see what happens in the rest of the series and to see where it goes.
This book includes both romance, fantasy and romance. It is a very well written YA/NA book and I would highly recommend it.
