This is an absolutely extraordinary historical crime fiction. Set in London in 1782, it begins with our main protagonist, Caroline Corsham, finding her friend murdered. But her socialite friend is actually a sex worker, and Bow Street's interest in solving her murder evaporates. Caro hires a thief-taker, Peregrine Child, to help her with the investigation and uncovers a complex conspiracy that had me guessing every step of the way. It's a compelling, intriguing, and immersive story that kept me up reading long after my bedtime 🤣

The attention to detail evidences the incredible amount of research @laurashepherdrobinson put into this time period, which in and of itself was fascinating.

With strong characters and an equally strong plot, I'd highly recommend.

Good...but a bit unbalanced. And pineapples weren't rented. Just saying.
