Gekke gevoelens by Tarah DeWitt

The comedy in this book was out of this world. I found myself laughing out loud multiple times, which is not usual for me when reading.

The representation for the deaf and HOH community, the friends to lovers build, the sweetness of the MMC and the absolute realistic-ness of the relationships were absolute perfection. I couldn't put it down and I've told everyone who's asked me for a book rec recently that they need to read this one. Its 100% worth it and I already cannot wait to reread it.

Edited to add: It's November 12 and I've just finished rereading this book, after reading Tarah's other two books and this one is still, very firmly, my favorite. I love everything about it.
I love the MCs and their realness, the way their fears and hopes and foibles are masterfully represented so that you feel like these could be real people and you might just meet them in the crappy comedy club in your town. The way Hazel is perfectly written, funny and sweet, innocent and still knowing...Writing children and getting it correct is difficult...but this one was perfect.
I love the comedy, the laughs I got from this, but also the ways in which Tarah weaves the comedy to shine a light on some feminist issues without it feeling like virtue signaling. It's just REAL.
Basically, I want to step into this book and live there. I want to go to Lance's and catch Farley's set. I want to got to the opening night of PTA and laugh my head off, knowing that my two friends wrote it.
Do yourself a favor and read this book. You won't regret it.

Edited to add again: It's now May 29th and I reread this book for the fourth time on March 27th 2024...And I now understand that this book is going to always and forever be one of my very favorites. The comedy is great. The characterizations are impeccable. The love between Farley and Meyer is so warm and gentle and so so tender. I've never read anything as beautiful as this book and I will always wish I could go back and read it again for the very first time.

Rereading this book feels like going back and visiting my very best friends and I hope it always feels that way.

It was fine, cute. Farley and Meyer were sweet, supportive friends who both secretly wanted more.
I thought their "big conflict/misunderstanding" was pretty insignificant and also not in line with how their communication-filled relationship had been for years.</spoiler

friends to lovers/ age gap/ fake dating/ single dad. What could go wrong in a book with my favorite tropes? Nothing.

I loved this book so much, it was so funny and cute and everything. If I could marry this book I would.

This was soooo adorable. Totally get the hype. A character who thinks she's too much and the man who accepts her no matter what
