Kivian and Fran are super cute! Fancy lad Kivian saves Fran from slavery and takes her aboard his pirate ship. I'm excited to read about the rest of the crew too!

Cat,
This book had me laughing! The banter was funny. The characters were nice....once we meet the main hunk. Who wouldn't fall in love with a space pirate? Xoxo

Corsairs is a little darker than IPB and IH, but I enjoyed reading a new setting from the author! The characters were loveable and fun to read about.

Much like the first installments in the Ice Planet Barbarians and Icehome series, The Corsair's Captive introduces us to Kivian and Fran, who fulfill the somewhat predictable "power couple" dynamic Dixon has established for her introductory stories. They're essentially Vektal/Georgie and Lauren/K'thar, except in space with access to regular showers.
Still, they were a cute if unextraordinary couple, and I did appreciate Kivian's flamboyant, sartorially-inclined personality. It set him slightly apart from other heroes, though Dixon largely failed to expand this character quirk into a more complex picture. Fran was unobjectionable but just sort of . . . there, to be honest.
Mostly, I enjoyed the setup of the world, which exposes longtime readers of IPB/Icehome to the rest of the galactic civilization beyond Not-Hoth. I would have liked to see this expanded more, particularly for the cultures and histories of non-mesakkah, in future volumes. However, as I'm writing this review late--after having read through volume # 4--I know that this wish isn't answered.
