Mais uma história super envolvente e com personagens cativantes, tanto reencontros como novos conhecidos. Ler Anne Bishop é como ter sempre um porto seguro literário a que voltar.

Love this series. Lots of references to previous books but for the most part they are explained. You can read this book without having read the others but you will get more out of it if you have read Written in Red through Etched in Bone.

This was ok for me. If you like Anne Bishop and The Others, you'll likely enjoy this. I think I'm just getting too used to the formula in this series, and just didn't connect with any of the characters. Kind of felt phoned in? But I'm not sure that's fair - just the way I responded.

Anne Bishop's books scratch a very particular itch for me - both this series and the Black Jewels books are a type of revenge fantasy that I enjoy on some visceral level, even when I spot the weaknesses. Unfortunately, it didn't work quite as well for me in this book as it did with the previous books in the Others series. Wild Country leaned a little too hard into the misogyny built into the terra indigine, enough that some of the characters felt like cyphers to me, and I wanted more for them. Bishop also built up several character storylines that were cut off brutally at the end without any sense of resolution. (Ah, Abigail, you were a bitch, but you deserved a far more satisfying end to your arc.) The bad taste I'm left with after finishing this book will make me think a bit before continuing the Others series.
