not mad that I read it but would not re-read. lots of wisdom, compassion and insight from the author. highbrow eat pray love with very little time for developing any characters beyond the main character, who sadly was not as endearing to me as the author hoped. prose is beautiful but often overdone. the whole thing ends up being very very meta and actually the final third does pull it off, but that couldn’t stop the first half from feeling like a gentle little drag. still nice to see happy books win prizes.

This was cute, charming, and witty but didn’t change my life. There were points that made me smile but ultimately I wasn’t invested in Arthur at all.

This is a great book to listen to when you’re walking somewhere or using public transport. Too long and literary to read in one sitting, but easy to come in and out of. Not one of my fav books of the year, but im satisfied with the ending.

There's some weird race stuff in this (especially with how the main character talks in relation to the Mexican food he's exposed to??) and it was mostly just about this white man going through a mid-life crisis. It just wasn't for me!
