Nothing happened.

Just as Lord struggles for new material in this ninth volume of twelve, I am not sure how to describe differently what is essentially a very samey instalment.

The powerful ending of August was undermined by a series of miraculous events that was never really explained, either in the short or long term effects. The Ryan Spencer issue was all but parked aside from the odd reference, and there was little progress on the DMO front.

The ongoing mystery surrounding the death of Winter’s parents was given a fresh boost, though this plotline seems to be too sparse to build any genuine interest unless a connection to the DMO is somehow going to be unveiled.

On a positive note, it was a joy to see Repro reprise his role once again. He had some great dialogue and seemed more colourful than in his previous appearances. Oriana de la Force is also marvellous whenever she shows up. Finally, Kelvin was given an interesting scene that broke from the generic ‘running away from bad guy’ pattern.

The ending reverted to type. That was very disappointing. With just three books to go, September must be the last filler.

I'm starting to get a little bored with the unrelenting unrealistic pace but I'm too intrigued to stop reading.

Ook dit deel was niet heel bijzonder, maar ik ben blij dat er eindelijk weer wat vooruitgang in zit. Ik kan niet wachten totdat ik december heb gelezen, want ondertussen ben ik wel toe aan antwoorden.

I have read all the other books in the series and i'm hooked! love the suspence! The boy almost faces death at the end, cliff hanger.
