I literally didn't care about any of the characters lol the romance was weird-- the characters personalities changed about halfway through the book. It was just a hallmark movie with sex.

“It is so bad, I want to give you a zero, but that's not possible, so I give you a one.”

Lord… I am so embarrassed that I asked customer service at Barnes and Noble to find this book for me because I really was that eager to read a Christmas romance to further get into the holiday mood.

I am a huge fan of Netflix’s The Princess Switch, like that movie is my guilty pleasure movie that I will watch over and over despite how bad it is. Although A Princess for Christmas and The Princess Switch have different plots, this book still gave me hope that it would offer me the same cozy aesthetic and gorgeous imagery of being a princess in a little European country that goes all out for Christmas. Alas, this was such a letdown.

The writing felt so immature, and curse words litter the book. I curse and am fine with it (in appropriate settings, of course), but I just don’t think a Christmas romance is the place to have cursing on every other page. Yeah, the plot is unrealistic, but I’m not here for literary depth. I’m here for a book version of a Christmas Hallmark movie, so I essentially let the plot slide. I just wish it was more well-written, so I could have enjoyed the cheesiness of it more.

Character-wise, both Leo and Marie were so… bleh. Leo is probably the first male love interest who I got the ick for repeatedly. And Marie just seemed too innocent and dumb. I felt like I was reading about a 13-year-old, not a 20-something-year-old. She had potential to be characterized as so much better (Literally Holiday should have copied Lady Margaret from The Princess Switch, and I would not have complained). Homegirl studied engineering at Oxford, and she is well-educated. Make her seem that way!

Also, I did not expect the sex scenes, but they weren’t even gorgeously written. They were so badly written, and I felt no fiery desire within me while reading it (meanwhile, me reading the Nessian scenes in A Court of Silver Flames has me absolutely passed out from how incredibly sexy it is).

Overall, I finished this just to finish it, but would not recommend to anyone. The cover is cute, but the writing 100% is not. And not to sound cocky and overconfident (I could never be), but now I want to write a Christmas romance to just prove how much better I could do, LOL.

This book is weird to me because the entire first half is this super sweet hallmark story about a man and a woman from completely different lives falling in love. Super cute. Then it turned into something way too spicy for what it was introduced as. I like both halves separately, but not all together.

Super fun and cute and sexy. I loved how it poked fun at being a hallmark movie book!

Oh man, I loved this fairytale! It's the perfect book to curl up with in front of the fire and just enjoy the story and the characters.

What are the odds a real life princess will jump into your cab in New York? Not high but Leo was lucky :) Marie landed in his cab and turned out to be exactly what Leo needed.

The characters are sweet and I loved the references that were made to Hallmark movies!

A great Christmas read!

Thank you to the publisher and Edelweiss for the oppurtunity to review this book!

Marie is the Princess of Eldovia and is currently in New York on business. Marie is trying to hail a cab when Leo, currently off-duty, notices her. His 11 year old sister insists he stops to pick her up. Marie ends up hiring Leo to be her driver for the entirety of her trip and later invites him and his sister to Eldovia for Christmas.

This book is an absolute delight and if you even remotely like Christmas romance movies, you will love this book! Leo and Marie are perfect together and they work because Leo could care less that she is a princess. I really loved Marie’s journey to standing up for herself and Leo’s recognition that he is enough. The banter and chemistry make this book a binge worthy experience and I would LOVE for Netflix to pick this up!
