While this installment was a lot darker than the other novels in the series in my opinion it was also a lot more engrossing, edge of your seat action.

In this novel the select learn to be the select without Marco. They face hardship after hardship and watch as everything they've come to know about their lives and mission as select dwindles away and face the choice between doing what's right and doing what most benefits them.

I really enjoyed watching Jack grow as a character in this story. While none of them seem to acknowledge it Jack moves more into the position of leader as this stories progress because he's the one they turn to in order to make the hard choices. We also learn more about the then and now of Jack's mother which was definitely an interesting subplot.

With an astonishing ending I look forward to see what these characters will do next and can't wait to read the next book.

Back on track with the five stars rating. As I said in my review for the previous book there's this specific character I can't stand at this point (if you've read you know for sure who he is *cough cough*) and he was almost absent from this one. Which I loved, since I really needed a break from him, and that's not to say he's a bad character, it just shows how amazingly written he is.
This was for sure the most action packed until now and it was great. Really loved the character dynamics, the emotions portrayed and the ENDING. It's now a trend for me to love the ending of these books.
Can't wait to finish the next one!

Exploding with even more adventure and excitement. I continue to become more impressed with Lerangis after finishing each book in this series-- it's absolutely addicting.

I felt like this book was a little shorter than its predecessors, but it was a very compelling read and I couldn't wait to see what happened next. I'm really interested to find out what the fourth book in the series has in store.
