This is a fun read that depicts the strange and humorous side of Florida. The reader is never sure what will happen next but you know is won't be what you'd expect. Hiaasen's characters are earthy and real and the primary character here is no superman - just someone you might meet anywhere in Florida. Great read.

Odd characters and many plot twists. Not the best mystery, but it was somewhat entertaining. I like his writing, but this is not his best effort.

Hiaasen's Florida is a surreal world, and this book is full of surreal moments. I enjoyed the wild characters and the crazy solutions they found to their crazy problems. Solidly constructed. I had a hard time putting it down.

While this book was a good mystery and I enjoyed it, I had to switch from the audiobook to the ebook because it was recorded in 1987. The narrators swallows and stomach growls were really off putting.
