🌟🌟🌟🌟 -  I listened to this one on audio and really enjoyed. A great HF read that captured the artistry and poverty of Victorian London. Some of the descriptions really had my skin crawling, especially surrounding the dark and dangerous character of Silas. His unnerving nature and obsessive compulsions really had Silence of the Lambs vibes for me! I enjoyed exploring the art world of this time, as well as what it means to be a woman and what was expected. Iris was a rebel following her passion of painting before expectation and I really admired that. The contrast between her and her sister Rose was interesting to follow. Great writing and great audio that held my attention throughout - a firm recommendation from me!Â
