I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, just like the others I've read before. Anything related to the Winchesters captures my interest, and this book was no exception. One aspect I particularly appreciated was how it skillfully delved into the past, spanning across the years to showcase their various hunts. It was captivating to witness the younger versions of Sam and Dean and witness their growth. All in all, I must reiterate that I truly loved this book!

I have read a few of these Supernatural tie-in books now and this is by far the worst. The writing is pretty flat and the story is a jumbled up mess.
The plot focuses on a problem that has been plaguing the Winchester family since Sam and Dean's grandfather was alive and hunting, which is the first problem. This breaks the plot up into three separate storylines and places too much focus on two flashbacks that take up large, ultimately repetitive and useless chunks of the book.
The second major issue with the story is that it relies very heavily on the overarching storyline of the season in which this book takes place, tying it too closely to the show rather than standing mostly on its own as the other books I have read do. If the reader hasn't seen season five lately, a lot of the things they mention in the book are fuzzy memories and this really weakens the story.
I can only hope the rest of the tie in books are like the ones I have read prior to this and not more like this one.

Meh, don’t like the time jumping between 3 generations of Winchester’s. Got bored, had to go back and RE read it, and even then I forget the ending. Not my favorite of the SPN book so far.

An enjoyable read. It wasn't *squee* worthy but I like the idea that this case involved three generations of a family of Hunters. I also like to get a glimpse into the life of Mary and her partens. :) And Wee!chesters? Always worth a read even when they only have a small part in the book. :)

Not as bad as I thought it was going to be. The characters' voices were well done, the backstory was interesting, and it actually felt like it could fit into the show's storyline without screwing anything up. And here I was just reading it for kicks because it was a Supernatural BOOK. (I'm sorry, but I just can't get over it. Hilarious plot device is hilarious.)
