Heart Bones – Colleen Hoover

This book y’all!!!!!!!!! Tthis was an emotional roller coaster ride and I did not want to get off! It’s loss, love, pain, second chances, healing. I don’t want to give any spoilers but read it! I really enjoyed this read and recommend it.

CoHo is, undeniably, a damn good writer. No matter how cliched her books can be. No matter how predictable her stories can be. She's a good story-teller. She knows how to pull her readers in, how to entice them, how to make them fall head over heels with her characters.

While I don't fall head over heels with the characters here, I like the way their characters developed, how they matured. Mind you, these are young characters but due to the hardships they faced, they have more depth to their characters, more layers, so to speak. Compared to Julie in [b:You've Reached Sam|53086843|You've Reached Sam|Dustin Thao|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1610730335l/53086843._SY75_.jpg|73341676], I found Beyah to be more realistic and relatable. And likeable.

As per usual CoHo, the mummy/daddy issue is present. But I admire how Beyah carries herself, how strong and adamant she is (despite her obsession with Samson, but I understand why).

Come at me, world. You can't damage the impermeable.

Another gem from CoHo, for sure.

This book was so emotional for me I loved it. It is such a beautiful and heartfelt story. The pain Beyah feels, the love she discovers, the self discovery… the LOYALTY she has to a man everyone had given up on. And to find out it’s based on a true story just makes me even more emotional. This was such a damn good book.

Easy wholesome read, colleen hoover doesn’t disappoint !

This is my second book of hers, been putting off CoHo in order to avoid the emotional trauma some of her books cause ( Yes Verity, that was you!) but it turned out pretty good. I wouldn’t say this book has a lot of realistic elements, the protagonist isn’t my type of ideal lead, definitely flawed in her philosophies. What kept me going is how easy and addictive the authors writing style is and more than that the title reference was soo neatly justified that i couldn’t help but end up loving it! On top of that, its So minimal on the smut its a reprieve.

Samsons character is so cliche, he is the typical guy next door.. gives off those bad boy vibes , typical rich kid rolled into the sad depressed and deep guy troupe. Brings me back to all the wattpad characters i have loved and fawned over for so many years. The fact that he is an honorable flawed character is whats his best redeeming quality.

On a side note, how Beyah hides her mothers death is applaudable, so is her commitment. Glad things worked out, only complain remains.. i thought her father to be good for nothing, but he wasn’t. If only she had communicated with her father earlier keeping her ego aside..her life could have turned around for the better.

4 star it is.

I really don’t know what this book is lacking for me but maybe it’s just that I guessed all the plot twists? They were just all really expected and basic. I really liked Samson and Beyah and appreciated their story, I mean the book was a really good read, I finished it in a day but it’s just missing something. It felt really rushed and short and I wish it were more of a longer slow burn so that I could have had the chance to connect with the characters more.
