I'm (guessing I'm) a terrible judge of poetry, because reading poetry is just not something that comes naturally to me, or that I naturally read, or whatever...aside from song lyrics(?). I was reading this on and off, a poem or two at a time, over a much longer period than it would have taken a much more dedicated reader of poetry to finish. I enjoy Cohen's music a great deal, and his prose as well...and since the vast majority of this poetry reads like Cohen's song lyrics, well...I could hear him in my mind reading it in a Leonard Cohen cadence, or singing it in a Leonard Cohen song. I liked it.
