The plot thickens! What a cliff hanger, glad I don’t have to wait to continue! That being said this book had it’s ups and downs. I still enjoyed it but it was also incredibly frustrating at times.
I understand it’s YA but also make it make sense. If your going to commit to having a 17 year old, high school dropout, Ex insane asylum resident, without absolutely any knowledge of the world politics, military strategy or basic world logistical operations maybe debriefing her on important shit should be a priority instead of her daily walks in the park! It was ridiculous and I couldn’t take it seriously. I mean, I would assume after taking over the first order of business would have been a boot camp crash course in “here’s everything you need to know to lead the world” not this walking on eggshells bc of emotions. I was disappointed to say the least, I was expecting much more respect for Juliette and pretty much she was just patronized the whole book.

I sometimes hate Kenji so much, and sometimes love him. Like what was that „did she shoot you again?” I was so mad at him.

This book was such a drag for like 90% of it. I was afraid this book was gonna feel like a random plot that was written just to write more books since the last one ended so well for me. And it was exactly that.
I just hope the next one doesn't drag shit along as this book did. My least favorite out of all 4 so far.
Spoiler
The last like 10 pages has me curious for the next book though. I dont care about the sisters or the parents, but i am intrigued to find out how Aaron and Ella know each other. Seems to me that Aaron was also an experiment.I just hope the next one doesn't drag shit along as this book did. My least favorite out of all 4 so far.

I think the series is actually getting good now. The cliffhanger at the end of this book is one I'm not actually mad about.
The changing perspectives threw me off a bit, but it was nice to hear from Warner's point of view.
The character development in this book has been impeccable, especially Juliette's. Its nice to see her accept that she's not completely invincible, and see her accept help from Nazeera. The twist of the commander's children knowing everything gave me whiplash /pos
Overall this is probably the best book of the series so far, it's nice to see Mafi get into her own style of writing.
