I wasn’t quite ready to leave the Elsie Silver world of romance after finishing the Chesnut Springs series… and this didn’t disappoint. An easy read of small town romance. There wasn’t too much ‘will they won’t they’ which some may find boring in this but I actually found it to be a nice change - no painful miscommunications or missteps. The characters showed healthy communication from the very start and had adorable relationships especially with daughter, Cora.
It won’t change your life but is a nice read to make you smile.
One word: heartwarming.

The characters in this book are what make it so highly consumable. I do think it was a little long (450-ish pages), but I stayed up late more than once to keep reading. There were also some imperfections in the writing that distracted me on multiple occasions, and the spicy scenes…were VERY spicy. Could have done without a couple of them (and the domineering attitude of the MMC)but to each their own. Gave this 4.5 stars because while those things weren’t my cup of tea, the relationship between the main characters made up for a lot.
Graphic: Cursing, Sexual assault, Sexual content, and Sexual harassment
Moderate: Mental illness, Sexism, Terminal illness, Toxic relationship, Violence, Blood, Death of parent, and Alcohol
Minor: Mass/school shootings

This is the first book in Elsie Silver's new series. It follows childhood friends Rosie and Ford. There's lots of angst and history between these two. It's a bit of a different single dad romance. No spoilers! Rosie is a great FMC who is so independent and strong. This is a great first book as it sets up the series well. Lots of characters are introduced and I'm looking forward to more books in this series in the future. Plus Willa from Chestnut Springs makes an appearance as she is Ford's sister. Love the crossover. Highly recommend.

Very brief mention of the song Pumped Up Kicks and that it's about school shootings. It's brief but this topic can be triggering. It's in the epilogue.
