Ok anybody who doesn't like personal stories in reviews please keep on scrolling to more adequate reviews of this cute, fun, fluffy book.
Everybody else: Hi, welcome to my story. :)
Years ago I was the Gia of my group of 4 girl friends, well ok not exactly like Gia (there was no Twitter, Instagram or Facebook gasp I know (I'm getting old) and also no cute boys (well I was around 13 and boys only started to get interesting so yeah xD) but what there was was my own personal close friend who decided to make me her target and, by telling lies and twisting my words and actions, got our other friends and even our whole class, who all unfortunately for me decided to believe her without ever questioning anything she said or standing up for me even after witnessing her being slightly abusive towards me, to turn against me, so yeah my teenage years weren't really that much fun in the beginning.
So Natalie, you all may ask, what exactly has this to do with this book? For me? A Lot! I was so happy to see the change in Gia throughout the book and even more happy that she didn't let her situation change her into some horrible person but made her stronger, wiser and in some way better (which I like to think also happened to me back then).
What I really hope this book does is give girls (and boys) who experience the same thing as Gia (and me) confidence and hope and show them that there will be better times (and especially better people) waiting for them and that they will never give up on themselves but grow from their experiences and see that there will be so much awesomeness waiting for them. :)
Ok enough of my little personal rant back to the book: like I said before: it's cute, it's fluffy it has it's funny moments and it's perfect for lounging outside on a hot day eating ice-cream. If you need a quick fun read this is the book for you. :)

I think it could have been five stars if there had just been a liiiiittle bit more. Otherwise though, pretty good!

4 yummy soft snickerdoodles!
Cover Love: Yes. It looks romantic, but also friendly. No kissing, just two people hanging out.
Why I Wanted to Read This:
I like this author for contemporary teenage romances!
Romance?: Of course!
My Thoughts:
My first impression of Gia was not that favorable. She seemed bossy and shallow right from the start. She calms down a few pages in, but the way she is with her friends gave me pause. These are seniors in high school, they have history. She and Claire have been best friends for 10 years and she and Laney for five. Does she really think they don't trust her or love her enough that they will believe anything Jules tells them? Their whole friendship seemed like middle school girls rather than seniors. They were just really immature for high school seniors!

I checked this out spur of the moment on Libby because I just wanted to read something. I also remember seeing it on Bookstagram a lot and hearing about how good it was. So like I always do, I read it entirely in one sitting. I really liked the characters. Between Gia, Hayden, & Bec I can't even say which one is my favorite, I liked them so much. The Fill-In Boyfriend is a nice, fluffy read that I give 3.5 stars.

I liked this book but I needed a little more at the end. I have so many questions like does Claire forgive her? Do they go to college together and roommate? Does Bec get with Nate? But overall it was cute.

This is my first book by this author and it definitely was not meant for anyone my age. These characters were really annoying. If the people in his book were closer to 14 than 18/19 i would accept the immaturity better but i could not imagine any senior in high school behaving the way this group of girl did throughout this book. The only redeeming thing about this book was Bec. She was refreshing. I wont spoil it for anyone but lets just say if your best friend is your best friend things like this book simply dont happen. I will give one of her other books a try though. I think this one was just way to immature for my taste.

I LOVED this. I've really liked Kasie West's previous books, but this one is easily my new favorite. Pretend dating!!! Slow burn romance!!! The romance was utter perfection, but even beyond that, I also REALLY loved Gia's friendship with Hayden's sister. This just worked really well for me.

I picked this book up on a lark, and I have to say that it was enjoyable. Gia is one of the most popular girls in the school and is the student council president. She is a leader and is comfortable in that roll. The night of the senior prom, out in the parking lot, her date Bradley breaks up with her. With friends doubting his existence, Gia is disparate to find a "fill-in" and convinces a boy sitting in his car to go back home, change and come back to pretend he is Bradley, her college-age boyfriend.
The lie sets up so many changes in her life. Not the least of it, it pushes Gia to take a good look at herself, and she discovers she doesn't like what she sees. The lie also brought Hayden into life. I loved that guy and the effect he had on her. His calm, understanding and supportive nature was just what she needed to deal with back-stabbing "friends," controlling parents and rude brothers. That's not to say this relationship was one way. Gia was also there for Hayden, helping him get through a rough patch in his life, too.
Overall, it was an pleasant surprise. Now I must check out other books from this author.

Really becoming a fan of Kasie West. All three of her books have been just charming, easy, relaxing reads. What I liked most about this one was that on page one, I'm dropped in the middle of a scene, No slow build lead-up to something happening. Really liked that effect.
