Representation, representation, representation… I love it! We don’t meet Alex Fierro until the second book, but I love her/him too! Magnus is hilarious, and I love how he constantly bickers with Samirah despite her literally being her Valkery or however you spell it. The chapter titles where a total highlight, and I’m really glad I read this. Thank you Rick Riordan! :)

Another super fun Rick Riordan ride. I wish he or his editor would reign in some of the silliness. When you have awesome names like Tanngrisnir (Old Norse "teeth-barer, snarler") and Tanngnjóstr (Old Norse "teeth grinder") for Thor's goats, is it really necessary to give them nicknames like Otis and Marvin? One thing I loved about the earlier books is that Riordan didn't pull any punches with the mythologies. No idea what a Laistrygonian is or how to pronounce it? Whatever, just try to keep up. Bums me out a bit that now that he's finally gotten around to my very favorite mythology, he's getting kind of cocky.
