You see people gather around - this is what happens when you answer the call to the void and let that intrusive thought run rampant. WTF.

I am once again petitioning for a Viking funeral complete with canoe, pyre, wailing hotties and archers with impeccable aim. Just skip the mortuary altogether thanks.

We've all had that terrifying thought that the mortician in the morgue might be an outright pervert right? Oh wait you haven't had that terrifying thought? I guess I'll blame it on watching Criminal Minds and L&O SVU when I was barely a teen. This book feels like looking into the mind of the rare beast - a female serial killer. Well she has the potential.

The author managed to do something powerfully frightening - keep the reader hooked on one of the most depraved stories of the decade.

Spice level: Noooooo we will not be calling it spice of any sort.

Plot/Storyline: started in the pits of hell. But then, there was this 2nd act filled with potential, hope and dare I say love story. Yeah it all ended in a further pit in hell.

Characters: Sadie Sadie Sadie smdh. I liked Rhys.

Favorite scene/quote: I can take an aspirin for mine. You need bedrest, plus, you’re probably contagious, and I don’t want to catch that shit.” It comes out a little harder than I intend, but seriously… gross. (Sadie on her boss's cold when just seconds before she was caressing and stroking a cadaver's junk. Cognitive dissonance).

Hear me out...it's weird but it's good, in a way.

The story involves the fucked up mind of a woman who works in a mortuary and from the arrival of a certain corpse, she can't think of anything other than impure and totally wrong desires.

When I started this read I thought it would go down a different branch but it did not. I didn't expect the events from the middle to the end of the book at all. But yes it is a very sick plot. The main character had very contradictory morals and I couldn't believe how someone gets to that level of mental disturbance. It's explicit and pretty disgusting.

Would I recommend it? Probably yes, but if you're in the mood for a random read that makes you fear for the society we live in. My three stars are because I found it entertaining although I would have liked it to be longer so I could get 100% into the characters and study their mentality about the events.

I will continue to read more from the author. (edit: I continued reading more from the author and...wtf)

Sadie works as an embalmer. One night at work she becomes tempted by a male corpse, and things escalate from there.

Meh. This is definitely not my fav of Rayne Havok's work. I'm not 100% sure if it was meant to be satire or not, but it didn't particularly work for me. You knew what was going to happen from a mile away, which brought my enjoyment of the story down. This one was also not as gruesome, and gory as Rayne's other work.

My beautiful eyes. They can not unsee what they have seen. I give the fmc points for ingenuity though. She’s certainly resourceful

A short and sweet extreme horror. I really enjoyed this. I appreciated how the main character wasn't an absolute monster, at least not her entire life.
