ok first off, sloane and dominic weren’t enemies lmaoo. at no point did these two hate or at the very least dislike each other. i didn’t mind it but the marketing was definitely inaccurate. the secret pining on dom’s end was delicious😙🤌🏾

this book solidified the fact that i don’t like dual timelines. not because it wasn’t done well in this book (it was- providing some much needed backstory and context to dom and sloane’s relationship) but i just don’t care for it🥴

dominic alexander😮‍💨. sexy, suave, considerate, gracious, thoughtful, and sprung on sloane from day 1 (literally😭). i love him (although he began to lose me in that last part- don’t know if i’ve recovered entirely from that one yet)

jls is not kidding when she calls herself the “smut peddler” lmaoo. the tension, intimacy and spice between them was just lovely. although it began to get cloying after a while (especially when more serious moments arose)

but beyond that i could feel their compatibility. dom and sloane’s chemistry was evident from the get go

i love how sloane’s grief was taken care of. acknowledging and honoring her lost love while making space for this new love to blossom was touching and necessary. i also loved that both her and dominic were seeing therapists for their pain and trauma. it was refereshing

i hate sloane’s mother like the next person but i don’t like her father either cause he just sat back complicit in her vile behavior instead of rly defending his daughter. you can’t be neutral when there’s a witch involved (chrissy teigen and john legend tease?🤭). i wanted to fight both of them (her especially) and dom’s father at every turn

but on to better things, mal and sloane’s friendship is so sweet and pure. they were the image of sisterhood. of found family and i loved it. the way they care for each other and exercise patience and grace with both their grief was satisfying to read

the miscommunication trope will never hit for me. they were pissing me off cause like just talk.
Spoiler the conversation we all knew they needed to have took too long to happen for no reason. and then the 3rd act breakup dragged on for longer after that and i was like “oh brother”. maybe it could all be chalked up to my impatience but yeah that didn’t work for me

i didn’t get the proposal🥴. it felt sudden. it was giving me epilogue material (like 2 years down the line), not grand gesture

when i was about halfway through i was convinced this was going to be a 5 star read for me (lowest 4) but that last 20 or so % just didn’t connect with me
