Blackbird is easily the prettiest series I’ve been reading lately. If you’re not reading it, then you’re honestly missing out on a beautiful comic world. I’m a bit sad though because I’m pretty sure that this issue marks the beginning of a break for the creative team. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy they’re getting a break, I just don’t want to have to wait too long for the next issue (because it’s been so good).
This issue did wrap up a lot of the major plots that the series has been dealing with. Nina finally gets some of the answers she was looking for…though admittedly I don’t think this is what she was expecting.
It was an emotionally heavy issue, but they did a brilliant job with it. I can’t wait to see where they go from here. They’re already setting up for the next plot, so I know they’re going to waste no time getting there.

Hmm.. it's...
Interesting? Quite so.
Prettiest? Definitely!

But hoping the writing to be better in the next volume. Just when I thought the story was getting better, it met a dead end :(

I really enjoyed the ending of this part of the series! It's clear they want to leave it open for another run of comics. I'd absolutely read on!

THIS ARC WAS GREAT SET UP ARC. GREAT WAY TO FINISH UP THE FIRST ARC.

Seriously, i've enjoyed the ride that Jen and Sam have taken us on and enjoy the series so much. Heres to Many more. I loved the last two panels.

Gosh, what a shitty person... And not the brightest one, at that. I can understand why she had to hide the truth from Nina, but making her feel like shit for years, going as far as nicknaming her "crazy baby", then putting her through several huge traumas, and denying her the truth once it's clear she can't be made to forget? How did she think this would end? Of course Nina's going to oppose everything you say and burn your stupid world down, lady. You did all the wrong things.

But I love that the writing is consistent with this choice. Even when everything goes wrong, she still isn't concerned about Nina like she claims to. She's just vexed. The writing is also quite good regarding Nina's personality. Clint having an ulterior motive was obvious from the start, just not for someone who has been belittled and made to distrust everything she is for most of her life. Not to mention how much she must crave approval and kindness, after all the traumas she's been through. I love that Humphries allows Nina to take control of her life without changing her too much or too suddenly. I do hope she destroys every single one of those assholes in the end, but in the meantime, I quite enjoy this on-point characterization.
