KU edition could use some love from a copyeditor. And he's still a bit of a Mary Sue. He gets hurt a lot, but there's never any real consequences for him.

He's suppose to be super smart yet he keeps doing really obvious stupid stuff. The author dangle I know something you don't know , then the book ends in a dialog explaining everything . just not my kind of book. Lots of people enjoy that kind of book just not me.

Twists, twists and more twists keep you reading this one. While trying to deal with his maker abilities and the not so good off shot of having them Nate also has the mystery of who and how many after after a mysterious book he has been asked to find. I love how Nate has so many diverse friends now and I think Death and Alucard are my faves!
This one kept me glued to the ages and the I just loved the scene with the 4 horseman and silver tongue,

The Roster is Growing

The best way to sum up these books. Fun. Just really fun. The roster of characters is ever expanding, in a good way. Is it ridiculous? Absolutely! But it wouldn't be fun if it wasn't.

I wasn't as into this book compared to the previous ones. I think I am feeling anxious to catch up to the series I really loved. I don't really love ivy all that much because of it which makes me impatient but I'm excited to see how everything continues because it just keeps building on top of itself.

-3 stars, maybe 3.5.

i enjoyed parts of the book very much, i really liked the story and characters. i enjoy the snarky attitude. but occasionally i was doubtful/in disbelief of other parts.
-like for multiple problems he encountered - why didnt he just go ask his parents' spirits for help?
-or when having a discussion thru simultaneous writing in a special book, he got a very important answer but was distracted halfway thru reading this very important answer and never looked back even though the book was still in his hand. and this special book, he just LEFT it out unattended to follow something else. so it was of utmost importance to keep it safe? or wasnt it?
-and sometimes it felt like too much easy magic to fix everything.

"jesus..."
"jesus?"
"no. stop. listen-"
"you forgot collaborate." [vanilla ice reference]

"did you just slap me?"
"you weren't breathing."
"i'm a vampire, nate. i don't have to breathe."
"i know."
"bastard."

Great series

This series keeps getting better and better. Nate is a really good character nicely flawed, funny and a loyal person. I'm really interested to see how his powers progress and I want to find out more about this dark being inside him. I cant wait to read the next book.
