I will say there is often a lack of nuance in this story. But, I think we’re at the point with such themes where we *need* them to be discussed plainly and with conviction. This was an amazing book.
Graphic: Blood, Death, Emotional abuse, Gaslighting, Stalking, Panic attacks/disorders, Mental illness, Injury/Injury detail, Gun violence, Murder, and Grief
Moderate: Cursing, Gore, Mass/school shootings, Medical content, Suicide, Suicidal thoughts, Sexual violence, Sexual harassment, Sexism, Sexual content, and Self harm
Minor: Abortion, Alcohol, Alcoholism, Body shaming, Bullying, Drug use, Eating disorder, Excrement, Fatphobia, Vomit, Sexual assault, and Abandonment
It’s a difficult read for sure, especially if you’ve experienced sexual violence, toxic relationships or stalking, or been affected by gun violence. I would highly recommend it but please read content warnings and make a decision based on what you personally can handle and what headspace you’re in going into this book.nellkristen's review against another edition

A Heart in a Body in the World is devastatingly beautiful. Caletti’s writing is unmatched in this book as she weaves together past and present to share Annabelle’s story. It absolutely shatters the story unfolds and we learn what Annabelle is running from, and Caletti is an incredible writer and she effortlessly tells an painfully common story and naturally calls for social action without feeling overdone. She ultimately leaves you in a place of hope as the book closes, and makes you truly believe that healing is possible. Throughout this story, I felt as though I was running alongside Annabelle and healing with her. I truly cannot rate this work highly enough.
