New mysteries, higher and more dangerous stakes, more players, many who are objecting to the game, and more shitty money-seekers in the woodwork. And more secrets, of course.

Honestly, more like the stakes and tensions I expected of book 1 from the blurb.

Bots are still pretty 1D and interchangeable, but whatever.

The writing is a bit juvenile, even though I love YA. It’s difficult to buy into this world, but I found the romance to be the most engaging part of this story. I liked where the mystery went, whereas the previous installment of this series I didn’t care for the puzzle.

It's definitely more active than the first book, the connections between the characters is explored a lot more and I absolutely love that! My favorite part is "I'm not a bad man" after what he did and planned to do LMFAO it was so funny

“The trick to being abandoned was to never let yourself long for anyone who left.”

Oh my gosh, this was so good! The twists and turns this book had left me GAGGED.
Also, I listened to the audiobook for this one, and it was really funny to hear the Hawthorne's accents. The whole Tobey II is Harry thing was WILD and I was here for it! And Sheffield... bro. That's all I'm gonna say.
This book was better than the first one, because more things were getting answered here, and the mystery kept getting deeper. I'm excited to see how this all ends!

Disappointing

Reading this was like pulling teeth. Where the first book was fast-paced and fun, this one dragged on. Nothing happens except for a bunch of filler until the last 15% of the book with ridiculous plot twists.

I don’t even want to get into the “love triangle” with the wet blanket brothers. Absolutely no chemistry between any of them. Again, like the first book, I felt no emotional connection towards these characters.

Since this book was so underwhelming, I don’t think I will continue on in the series.

The first half was boring, but it picks up near the end. The ending kind of didn’t make sense though. At least to me.
