Best Bridgerton book by far, but I don’t think I’ll read another. Maybe Eloise’s.

Technically this was a re-read in advance of the Netflix release. This is one of my favorites because Colin is probably the most respectful of the Bridgerton boys. It's nice to see how their relationship evolves and how Penelope moves past an infatuation to seeing his flaws and still loving him. Also nice for a romance heroine to be described as and praised by the man for being curvy (albeit only occasionally and of course only after mentioning she'd been heavier ::eyeroll::). It's not perfect, but it's steamy and sure fun to indulge.

I had a absolutely blast from beginning to end and I do admit that I watched the tv series before reading the book and doing that did not ruining the polin coupling for me in the slightest, the characters were as enjoyable as I knew they would be and overall it was a beautiful read I highly recommend it.

I am glad to have finally read Penelope's story.
I did not like Colin through most of it. He was immature and his courtship went much too easily. He was also mean spirited at times and went from generally likable to generally dislikable.
There's a big deal made about Penelope and Lady Danbury becoming friends and Lady D offering to help her find happiness, the literally nothing comes of that. Everything that changes in Penelope's life happens without any input or assistance from Lady D.
It gets 3 stars, because I still love Penelope's character. Otherwise, I'm getting tired of the same descriptors being used over frequently and some of the major plot points getting skipped or rolled past like they were forgotten.
I will read the next book as the way Eloise runs off at the end of this book really intrigued me. It seems out of character for a 28 year old unmarried Eloise to suddenly decide to run off to meet a man all by herself.
