Carter Ross hangs on at The Newark Eagle-Examiner; he has never wanted to do anything else but be a newspaper guy. Reading the paper's obits, he finds the death notice of one of the paper's delivery people, Nancy Marino. Ross wants to do her homage for her years of service to the paper, so he starts investigating and soon uncovers problems. The labor union for the delivery people does not want to make concessions to the paper management, and Nancy is a shop steward. Someone is making trouble for the labor negotiations and Nancy got in the way. Carter finds himself on the wrong end of a Cadillac Escalade when it tries to run him down. This trip to Newark seemed a little more perfunctory than the first two in the series, but Carter is an interesting character and the mysteries are twisty, which I enjoy.

Only giving this three stars because, despite the fact that I never try to work it out, it was obvious to me who the killer was all the way through. I assume the trespassing charge got dropped...
