First Thought when Finished: V-Wars was an interesting mix of things. I enjoyed it far more than I expected too.

Read It, File It Thoughts: This is one of those books that I should probably break down into individual stories but I'm feeling lazy. This was however a fascinatingly different take on Vampires. I liked how all the authors played off each other and how well the stories blended. This was one of those times I was glad I didn't have much of a clue going in because I am usually not a fan of these type of interwoven stories. This one worked though!

Audio Thoughts:
Narrated By Cassandra Campbell, Gabrielle de Cuir, Roxanne Hernadez, Arte Johnson, Stefan Rudnicki, Wil Wheaton / Length: 18 hrs and 33 mins

There was not a weak link in this bunch! I enjoyed the narration a LOT! The pacing, timing, narrator blending, and emotion was spot-on. I can't imagine "reading" this book any other way.

Final Thoughts: This was overall a very enjoyable tale(s)!

So I was pleasantly surprised to learn as I was reading that this is basically an anthology of vampire stories set in the same universe, recounted in a compelling nonlinear pattern. Based on personal aesthetic, each story was well-written and I enjoyed the flavor of the differing authorial voices. At no point was I jarred out of a story by a false note indicative that the character, and his or her respective storyline, was not joined to the collective plot. If you’ve read other reviews of mine, you’ll know this is an issue that will put me off a book. I don’t like giving much away through a traditional summary review, but I do suggest horror readers take the plunge and give it a try. My wonderful SO introduced me to Maberry as he’s been making his way through Maberry’s Rot and Ruin zombie series. I’m looking forward to reading more of Maberry’s work in the future.
P.S. I highly recommend not skipping Dacre Stoker’s introduction…for any vampire lore nerd, it’s pretty brilliant.

It took me a bit to figure out this was a bunch of stories told by different authors. I picked it up because it’s being made into a television show. It’s ok. I’m not sure if I’ll read the next books in the series though.

Self-righteous liberal crap masquerading as a vampire novel. Only good stories were the Native American pregnant girl and the San Francisco Chinatown guy.

First time reading a collection of authors writing different stories from the same event. It worked well. Unfortunately the proof reading wasn't brilliant. Sometimes I struggled to keep up with the characters between instalments.

While I didn't like all of the stories, most were very good. All these different viewpoints was great. Loved the narrators.

I just could not get into it, and it's because of Danica. The other stories were promising, but Danica was exceptionally annoying and I couldn't fathom her story whatsoever. Her storyline was over-sexed and gratuitous.
