I'm a little underwhelmed to say the least.

After finishing the first book in the series I was excited to start the second book to get a more in-depth look at some of the characters but it felt like it was a bit lackluster. There wasn't much plot or character building in this book, granted there were a lot of things that happened throughout the book. It almost felt as though there were too many issues instead of the characters having to focus on one or two; as a reader there wasn't a main focal point as it almost felt chaotic.

To be fair, there were a lot of twists and turns that you would have or not have picked up hints on throughout the book. There's also a good amount of spice that was included, which I think we're all here for 😉

I didnt feel like any of the characters had ANY chemistry with each other. Adrian and Isolde’s relationship felt so toxic, I almost DNFed at 35%. Nothing happens in this book; its all set up for the next one. I will be stopping the series here.

For me this was more of a back story book that really got you connected with the characters and their traumas with some sprinkles of happy moments and spicy scenes. While also showcasing how the character navigate through the traumas even in times of strife. I will be waiting in anticipation for book 3.

I genuinely loved the first book. This one not so much. I found Adrian to be boring and Isolde insufferable. Her solution to every problem she encounters is to be intimate with her husband even at (what I presume to be) inappropriate times. The conflict in this book was lack luster. There was no sense of impending doom like there was in the first book. Genuinely it felt like some of the major plot point of this book were unnecessary. Some of the major reveals lacked the ability for me to care about any of it. At the end of the first book when it was revealed Isolde was reincarnated, I was desperate to learn about how that would affect her going forward. All it did was make her insecure when she was so strong and independent before.

I feel like every time these two interact they are fighting or having sex which isn't fun or healthy haha.
They also just don't know how to talk to one another which gets soo frustrating after a couple of chapters. It's like the miscommunication trope but worse because they don't even know how to talk.
The lore and the world building is very fun tho.
