I'm a little underwhelmed to say the least.

After finishing the first book in the series I was excited to start the second book to get a more in-depth look at some of the characters but it felt like it was a bit lackluster. There wasn't much plot or character building in this book, granted there were a lot of things that happened throughout the book. It almost felt as though there were too many issues instead of the characters having to focus on one or two; as a reader there wasn't a main focal point as it almost felt chaotic.

To be fair, there were a lot of twists and turns that you would have or not have picked up hints on throughout the book. There's also a good amount of spice that was included, which I think we're all here for šŸ˜‰

Not sure how to feel. I definitely liked the first book better. This one falls into a lot of the classic traps of fantasy sequels where there is just a LOT going on, a few too many twists and turns, a lot to keep up withā€¦and it just loses its center a bit. Iā€™ll definitely read the next book whenever it comes out because Iā€™m attached enough to the characters that Iā€™m really curious what will happen, but oof.Ā

Also be warned this one is MUCH darker than the first. Itā€™s honestly so dark that then the spice just feels like an intrusion/inconsistent with the rest of the plot and mood.Ā

The sequel to one of my top books of 2022. I wonā€™t let my love for KOBAB blind me to how I feel about this book I promise.Ā

Queen of Myth & Monsters is very character driven focusing on Isolde, worry not the plot is still solid even if it was character driven. Thereā€™s a lot happening on this book that picks up right after KOBAB, no time jump, and be warned that this will hurt.Ā

I hurt for Violeta and Sorren, if you have read it you already know why, and I felt their loss and it feels unfair that both had to happen.Ā

I was hoping for more chapters that focused on Adrian mostly because he seemed like an asshole for majority of this book due to circumstances and situations beyond control and I wished we were given his POV to know exactly how he feels or what he was thinking you know?Ā

ā€œYou are my greatest gift Isolde. The day I found you was the day I needed nothing elseā€ Bonus Scene Adrian - this šŸ„ŗ

I love both Isolde & Adrian and this cliffhanger!!! I canā€™t believe I did not expect such ending šŸ¤Æ

This was such a compelling sequel in my opinion. It was very good. There was a bit of over used vocabulary toward the end, such as "devastated" and "murdered" which I believe were intended to evoke strong emotion, but eventually lost all meaning due to over use. Beyond that, I don't really have any complaints.
