An easy read that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

It was hard to get into rooting for the characters and at times the dynamic, pace and storyline were a bit confusing. I still liked the book and thought a couple of the celebrity cameos were funny. It would have made more sense if the main character was ten to fifteen years younger, because she continually acted immature to the point I forgot she was in her mid forties. The romance was also confusing at times but I liked the dual POV. I wish the story explored Lu’s brother Cole more because that felt like a dramatic and traumatic issue that was only ever alluded at. I was not on board with the whole “Let’s stalk a celebrity” premise, but I understand how the story was trying to employ that aspect.

I was a little bit alarmed when I started seeing a lot of people judging this book harshly and drowning in negative reviews. So that fueled me even more to read this. This is a sweet book with cute characters. Yes, obviously the plot is a little bit far fetched but you have to actually read the book to understand that this goes beyond Keanu Reeves. I think people got too hung up on the first couple of chapters and didn’t want to give this a fair chance. I know the characters are supposed to be in their 40’s but I think this would have been better received if Lu and the rest were in their late 20’s /maybe early 30’s. They didn’t read like 40 year old’s to me - a little bit too emotionally skewed with the dialogue, inner monologue & actions. I have noticed a lot of rom coms are beyond the romance and this one was no exception. Definitely worth giving a shot !

'"That idiot!" I blurted. "Who?" Dawn countered. "Him or you? Seems like a toss up to me."

That quote is it. That's the book. Lu really put True, and me the reader, through it. She is a roller coaster, going from zero to a hundred and back again. Going back and forth with True, putting it all on the line but then saying it could never work and blah blah blah. I was getting super annoyed and it's not even like the sex could save it because it was taaaaaaaaaame, like fade to black, and that is suuuuuuuuper annoying.  I wanted to like this book so much. The cover? super cute! Keanu Reeves? Who doesn't love him?!?! But this was a major let down.

it was one of those books that you want to shake the main character by their shoulders and say get a clue.
there were just really forced celebrity meetings that ultimately add nothing to the plot. it was cool i just really wished they would have tied in further
