Every time I read Giovanni’s work, I feel like I know her. Or she knows me. I love the way she writes and the way she talks about writing and writes about talking. She gets it, girlies. She gets it.

This poetry collection reminded me why I love women so much. Nikki Giovanni’s poetry style is cut and dry, poetic but to the point. It’s easy to read and understand but it’s still so relatable and it still hits you in the chest. My favorite poems were Fascinations, Woman, Poem (for Ema), Patience, You Are There, and A Poem of Friendship. I strongly suggest this collection!!!

This collection from Giovanni feels deeply personal as she reflects on her age, womanhood, relationships, and hopes and fears. There were a lot of stand out poems that I was feeling.
