I loved everything about this book till the very end. I was very happy at the outcome of the war, and that no one was killed. However, I feel like since Eragon had been chasing Arya for the entire series, he should have ended up with her. She should have gone with him, and I think the author should not have made that such a huge part of the plot if fate would keep them apart. Also, the entire book Murtaugh was hinting at high up spies in the varden, yet they never reveal who they were. If they were so high up, it should have been a character we knew, yet it was never mentioned.

I'm quite curious to see Paolini return to this series and this world 10-odd years later and write a new entry. The ending felt like it had the potential to be an emotionally satisfying conclusion to the series, and then... I don't know, the reasons that Eragon gives for leaving and the way that his departure is handled by other people felt rushed and like it just doesn't make much sense.

If I'm being honest, there've always been a lot of things that don't quite make sense in the Inheritance books, which is often due to the fact that Paolini likes to make details and logistics important but then doesn't always fully reason them out.

But I've complained about that before, and what I really want to do is say I enjoyed my time and that I'm grateful to this series for getting me more into fantasy as a kid, else I might have never stopped thinking that books could only be interesting if they featured some kind of spacecraft.

This was a good ending to the tetralogy. The very end is quite moving! I listened to the entire series on audio and would recommend that format to anyone with a long commute (or lots of time to listen to books).

I loved the book up until the end. It feels like some things were left unresolved.
