Again, a lot of fun, great illustrations, cute interactions.

Okay, I think I'm starting to get hooked here. This volume kept up the pace of the action from the first one, but also managed to explain things enough so that I could understand what was going on the first time through (or maybe I'm just more in the swing of the story now?). The girls are showing hints of character development now too, which is good, but I'd love to get some actual backstory. Still, I'm bumping this up a star from volume one solely for the dinosaur battle (particularly the Jurassic Park kitchen scene reference and Ripley's fantastic entrance at the end) and also for

Lumberjanes continues to be an absolute delight. It is full of joy and energy and adorableness. I would have liked a stronger plottier narrative (something more Nimona), but it's clever in its own way.

And I love the art. Usually I don't pay much attention, Emily Carroll and Saga excluded (I love the art in Saga so much) but it's so different and specific here. And the way the female characters differ from one another, and how their bodies are various and cute. I love it.

(Incidentally, today I was cleaning up and I found an old conference schedule. It was a one-day event and some of the panels were fairly boring, but one paper (which went way, way over its scheduled time) was dedicated to women and indie comics. I was scribbling names of artists I wanted to check out based on the pictures and descriptions and Noelle Stevenson was there. And then I lost the notes. Long story short, I found her on my own, but I could have been following her for years. The lesson being, I need to take my notes in a notebook instead of on random pieces of paper.)

I enjoy this comic series. It’s like Girl Scouts with an extra oomph. Positive girl power focusing on the power of friendship.

What a fun read! A great reminder of the power of friendship, and that girls are adventurous and all have different personalities and interests. I love the strong depiction of friendship in this series, and all the drawings are great.

I liked this, but not as much as the first one. I felt that the story was a bit choppy. It still had high energy and fun.
