Wow. Great story about Batman's greatest strength -- being prepared -- with a touch of "is he sane or not" thrown in for good measure. We meet Jezebel Jet, the love of his life; he battles with Dr. Hurt and the Black Glove using his own psychology as a weapon; we see the Joker not playing well with others, as usual; and the whole Bat family saves the day in the end.

I found it somewhat difficult to follow, but this was my first experience with the Morrison Batman universe. Very dark and complex, and a general good read. I'm sure I will enjoy it more upon my second reading after visitng more of his works with the DC universe.

For me the best part was the section called "The Butler Did It." A great look at some of the major events in Batman's life.

The good: The art! I'm a huge fan of pencil sketches and striking black and white imagery, and this delivers! I'm also kind of a fan of the costume Batman whips together mid-story, not gonna lie. The line about "The Black Hand always delivers" near the end also cracked me up.

The bad: Basically everything else! What an acid trip of a story, woooo boy. Robin has an adventure during this story that I...basically didn't care about. There was so much going on that Grant Morrison tried to all wrap conveniently into one big story. The end result was convoluted, but not neat.

Result: A resounding meh.
