The back half of the book was much stronger than the front, partially due to more insights and partially due to bias (reading about people you love succeeding flies by much faster than records of their struggles); it definitely increased my rating. The title is accurate in that it is mostly a “record” of their career rather than an insight of their journey (though there are of course good comments on what the group is going through during each stage of their journey). I kept asking myself while reading: “what must it be like to want something THAT much?” It is clear, however, that the editing was rushed to be released for the 10 year anniversary (shown through various typos; there aren’t too many, but enough to notice). This isn’t a book that would be too great for people that have never heard of BTS as it goes in assuming the reader knows who BTS is and is aware of their influence and impact. Overall, it is a very good record of their journey with insights from the members of the journey itself and how they were feeling, thinking, processing, and how their journey will continue forward due to their passion and kindness. I was left in many parts feeling quite inspired and proud of our Bangtan boys. I also have newfound appreciation for some of their songs. I just wish the editors of the book had one more run through before publishing.

an oral history of bts' journey in the past 10 yrs, beyond the story is a nice read that gives a deeper look into the band's story both pre- and post-debut. for an army like me, however, there isnt too much here that i dont already know, and kang's way of structuring the narrative can be a lil confusing at times. overall, this should be a great read for casual fans or anyone looking to learn more abt bts, and a good historical keepsake for ardent fans.

A great look back at the first 10 (really, 13) years of BTS. It tell the story of the group as a whole in relation to their album releases from pre-debut through the pandemic. Though it's just the tip of the iceberg of everything there is to know about the team's history, it's a must read for any new fan or anyone curious about them. You will gain a new appreciation for the group. Even if you know (or think you know) their history, the anecdotes and quotes give deeper meaning to the stories in their own words.

Thank you to BTS for gifting this to ARMY.
