i liked the premise of this and the chemistry withe the characters was good. i liked the way that there was no miscommunication trope but
i did not like the ending. the way river completely disappeared and then all the traumatic shit that happened near the end just got brushed over and they got back together after a 5 minute conversation. i also didn’t like that we didn’t get to know the real number just that it wasn’t 98 and above 90; it wasn’t cute just irritatingly ambiguous.
apart from those issues i liked the characters and i liked the pairing, they were cute.

Cute read, but definitely not a fave of mine. It was still good to read and I am glad I did ❤️

*spoilers*

I loved this book. I don't know what I was expecting, but it definitely wasn't two socially awkwar STEM nerds trying to figure out how to navigate a relationship.

I will say that the sexual tension was more sexuak than the actual set scenes, which I found absolutely hilarious.

Overall a great read, especially for gushing romantics.

I received an eARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is the type of witty and charming romance I've come to expect from Christina Lauren. They took the classic enemies-to-lovers trope and made it more nuanced as single mom and data whiz Jess and single non-parent and scientist River fall in love. The chemistry between the two of them was palpable, but I also enjoyed Jess' interactions and relationships with her best friend and romance author Fizzy (possible surrogate for Christina Lauren?), her grandparents Ron and Jo, and her precocious daughter Juno.

There's a frustrating plot point toward the end (I won't spoil it, but it has to do with how River handles conflict) that made me give this four stars instead of five, but if you're a fan of Christina Lauren and are looking for a lighter romance with some heart and intelligence behind it, give this one a try.
