ARC received from Andrews McMeel Publishing and Netgalley
--------------------------------------------
I used to love [a:Beau Taplin|7861886|Beau Taplin|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1410703812p2/7861886.jpg]'s work. He had this ability of making your heart flutter with just a few words. So, when I received this ARC, I was over the moon.

And that is probably why this book fell flat, I had high expectations.

"Allow your heart room to be heard."

What does that even mean? Is that even a proper sentence? Why should your heart be empty for someone to hear you?

"The absence of light makes nothing in this universe any less astonishing or magic."

Magical, you mean?

I could go on, but you get my point.

[b:Here at Dawn|49685519|Here at Dawn|Beau Taplin|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1582447595l/49685519._SY75_.jpg|74855933] is a beautiful package of few scattered meaningless sentences that does not make you feel.

Its a poor imitation of his previous work, It's pretentious, and it's disappointing.

I received an ARC copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
I think the poems have a very genuine voice. The verses were uplifting, sometimes sounding more like mantras or meditations than poems. I enjoyed them, I was expecting more novel use of the language, though.

Never had I read a poetry book as touching as this one.

The authors starts by addressing the reader telling them that when he was a young boy he would find wonder in all things around him, and that by the collection of these poems he hopes to encourage the reader to do the same - and you know what, he did just that.

I absolutely loved this book and will be picking it up as soon as it’s released. I will also be picking up his other two books.

thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Here at Dawn by Beau Taplin is a beautiful collection of poetry that speak of noting the magic in everything around you, in the day to day things. Poetry can be hit or miss a lot, because it’s so personal and you as the reader have to find something that connects you to the poetry to give you a tether to the words being shared. I found that connection in Taplin’s work and look forward to buying a hard copy for myself in the future to mark the lines I felt the most and savor the words better.

"I plant roots so deeply
in the people I love
that I always lose a piece of myself
when they go."

Uplifting and positive. This little book of poems is very organic and well written, I can really appreciate the beauty of the words and messages. A sweet combination of love and earthy prose.

Cover: 5/5 - can't resist a sun/moon combo.
Audience: adult
Poetry, love, earth, relationships, nature
Overall: 3.5 - my fault really I just have a hard time with poetry.

I really enjoyed this unique poetry collection. Many poems spoke to me and I found myself getting emotional over some poems. Taplin certainly makes you feel the meaning of his words. Also, I loved the illustrated pages with small poems on them that would sometimes appear in between poems. The poetry collection definitely made me curious to read more of Taplin's work!

Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for providing me with an E-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This poetry collection was very inspiring to me. It contains a range of different topics, which I really loved. Most of the poems inspire you to become better and be kind to yourself, which I absolutely loved.
I’ll definitely check out other books by Beau Taplin.
