My children (age 8/10) loved this read aloud. It was a perfect adventure story about leaving home for the first time without parents. It left them wanting more and they’re begging to start the sequel right away. I think it’s hard to find good chapter books for younger middle grade, and this definitely fit that category.
There was some higher level vocabulary, but I used that as a way to teach my kids new words and try to get them to figure out the meaning by the context.
