One of the best Plums in a long time, this story, about a deli with a string of mysterious disappearances, is heavy on the Lula, non-existent on grandma. Evanovich continues to bring us delightful secondary characters, like the stoner line cook and the illegal immigrant, pessimistic fry cook. This series doesn't get old.

The longer this series goes the more hit and miss each book is. This was more a miss. It wasn't as funny as I have come to expect. The bounty hunting didn't have as many exciting or amusing characters.
I am not a fan of Wulf. Adding the paranormal aspect doesn't really fit with the series. The Kidnapping for a reality show was interesting, but when neither Stephanie nor Ranger got taken it was a little disappointing.
Overall. it was fine but not great.

The comedy was much more enjoyable in this book than the last couple of books in the series (which were starting to get a bit boring).

As always, a fun, fluffy read. I enjoy these books for their escapism qualities.

I have listened to several of these books on audio, so I’m able to keep that version of Lula’s voice in my head. It makes it much funnier when I read it.

While the book was fun, it may be time to end these. The stories are the same, and I find myself laughing less. I’m over the same old Joe/Ranger debate, and Stephanie needs to either grow up or embrace humor a bit more.

That being said, just a Lula/Grandma adventure would be amazing.

The perfect antidote for a COVID world.

I've read a lot of 'nothing ever changes' reviews for this series and I'm here to dispute that. The Stephanie Plum books are more like episodes in a TV show than they are like a book series where you watch the characters evolve. The formula works, it's meant to be light and funny, and the reader just needs to sit back and enjoy.
